The Obama Sacrifice

I was just wondering...Our commander-in-chief and his lovely bride have extolled the virtue of entering community service as opposed to the private sector. They themselves chose to leave the corporate world in order to "serve the public," implying a selfless sacrifice on their part, for the greater good. Now, they are in the White House, arguably the most powerful couple on Earth. I'm wondering, what kind of sacrifice did they really make? I mean, had they stayed at the law firm where they met, would any of us know who they were? What would their income be? Seems to me they have done quite well for themselves! Yes, public service reaps many rewards, especially when the public is serving you.
